METHODOLOGY

Tactical mastery, sequenced.

33 weeks. Nothing skipped, nothing wasted. The Tennis System of Training (TSOT) is the framework Johannes Saayman built over 30+ years of coaching at the international level.

The 5 Areas

Every tactical pattern lives in one of five areas. Match Mind walks you through each area in deliberate sequence — building the engine before refining the finish.

  1. AREA 01

    Foundational Patterns

Cross-court forehand, cross-court backhand, and inside-out forehand patterns — the engine room of baseline tennis.

  2. AREA 02

    Serve

Service-block targets, serve + option play (Options 1–4), weapon serve.

  3. AREA 03

    Return of Serve

Return patterns, attack vs neutralise, follow-on after the return.

  4. AREA 04

    Mid-Court

Transition zone, short-ball recognition, approach-shot direction, finishing volley/smash.

  5. AREA 05

Pass the Player at the Net

Set-up pass, passing-shot direction, lob direction (slice + topspin).

Patterns, not strokes.

Most coaching focuses on technique. Match Mind focuses on tactical patterns — the recognisable shapes of a rally that decide points. You'll still build your strokes on court; here, you build the decision-making that aims them.

International-level outcomes.

The framework already shows up on the international circuit — from ITF women's wheelchair tennis (a top-20 placement) through to junior rankings around the world top-200 — and counting.
